Super Science & Social Studies
Preschool science and social studies are the perfect time for children to ask questions and be curious about the world around them. They have to opportunity to learn by experience. "Myself and others" is an appropriate theme for their level.
*5 Senses: Students will be able to describe and define the uses of their five senses. They will make connections to their world.
*Me: Preschool children will learn to identify the seasons and time of year. They will be able to create a personal timeline of events in their life.
*Scientists: The students will have the chance to become scientists at their level. They will be able to share their questions and inquiries with their peers while conducting science experiments. They will practice making conclusions and applying them to their world.
*Patriotism: The students will be able to recognize the US flag and symbols that represent our country. They will exhibit fairness and discuss and practice responsibility.
*Living Vs. Non-living: The children will be able to distinguish between living and non-living things. They will learn about the needs of plants and animals in order to survive.
*Involvement: Preschool children will be a part of community projects to become involved with their surroundings. They will discuss community, classroom problems, and learn about problem solving and how to take action for positive change.
*Simple Motion: The preschoolers will be able to observe, describe, and demonstrate the effects of a moving object. They will understand push, pull, and fall.
*Wants Vs. Needs: The students will be able to idenfity what is a WANT and what is a NEED in their life.
*Health & Nutrition: The students will explore different types of food, and their nutrition value. They will learn about ways to care for themselves to stay healthy.
*Animals & Habitats: The students will look at different characteristics of habitats and what animals live there.
*Maps: The children will look at the world around them and things that exist where they live. They will use basic maps skills to identify locations and places.
